Web 2.0
There was a time not so long ago that it was said ‘Content is king’. While content is still king, where it originates has given this oft repeated phrase a new twist. It is the age of the user generated content and so we at knack believe ‘User generated content is king’ and the revolution that has facilitated this progression is of course the advent of Web 2.0. This revolution hasn’t left even traditional businesses untouched. Many of our clients in industries like banking and pharmaceuticals ask us ‘how can we benefit from Web 2.0?’ Having launched some of the most successful Web 2.0 websites, we know exactly how.
To most technology vendors, Web 2.0 is still an unknown frontier, no wonder then that there is no dearth of experts who believe that the term is still unclear and that nobody has a good definition of what Web 2.0 is and what it isn’t. Not us. We know what Web 2.0 exemplifies. So when a customer comes to us with the requirement of taking their site from 1.0 to 2.0, we know instinctively know what needs to be done.
Who could have guessed that things like perpetual beta, tags and tag clouds, RSS feeds, Ajax, extended navigation structures, user trails and the omnipresent team blog would become as integral to this revolution as would more cosmetic characteristics like yellow fade, blue gradients, big icons, big fonts and big input boxes. While these concepts are still alien to many, our experience in this field has ensured that we understand this phenomenon and translate it into results for our customers.
Characteristics of today's Web 2.0 architecture allow better communications and data exchange resulting in improved social networking technologies, service orientation and interactive user interfaces based on AJAX and Flash complementing modern enterprise technologies.
It’s no surprise then that Web 2.0 features increase brand loyalty and customer retention and also make traditional web 1.0 websites stand out in the crowd, while giving control to the users.
