Information Architecture
The online world is going through what we like to call ‘Information Explosion’. If you were to ask yourself, which was the last web page you visited or how you got there, the answer most likely would be, ‘‘I cant recall’’. So what makes websites stand out? The simple answer information architecture. Many vendors if asked about IA would get into an animated discussion about enterprise architecture that they confuse information architecture of websites with. We understand the difference.
We call our approach ‘Information synergy’. Because that is what it boils down to. We start with the scope, goals, mission and vision. Then work on the content and functionality. Next comes adding a structure to the navigation and interface and finally visual design. The final product is as interactive an experience as it can get.
We give special emphasis to usability, accessibility and wed design, elements that most other vendors don’t factor in.
Our approach is simple:
- Identify individual components or pieces of information
- Consider the nature of info
(static v. dynamic)
- Conceptualize ‘the whole’
- Anticipate future growth
We think through everything by doing ‘walk through’ of scenarios with our clients. This gives our clients the opportunity to view the site in action prior to programming and proves to be a great collaboration tool when development does begin. By giving due consideration to site goals, audience and scenarios, we create content and functional requirements, site structure, layout grids and page mockups.
If the client requires this is where our software development arm comes into the picture and works with our graphic designers and information architects build out navigation systems, screen design using prototyping.
